Marketing and Events Apprentice
Needed for May/June start at Tang Hall SMART Ltd
This will be a key role within our music/electronics-based social enterprise, where as part of a team, you will work to provide valuable support, maintaining, building and developing a strong brand image, through effective customer conversation, communication and engagement as well as through strong marketing campaigns and processes. The position is a varied one with lots of contact with people.
Working week
Flexibility is needed around hours. The details given show the approximate times of opening for most weeks during term times. The working week is different during school holidays.
The usual 30 hours will fit within the following time frame:
Monday – 11am to 7.30pm
Tuesdays – 2.00pm to 9.30pm
Wednesday – 2.00pm to 7.30pm
Thursdays – 10.00am to 5.30pm
Friday - 11.00am to 4pm
Key responsibilities
Developing effective working relationships with participants on clubs and courses
Assisting other staff with signing in duties, hospitality and helping to ensure that all beneficiaries have an enjoyable experience.
Assisting with the coordination, planning and the marketing of clubs, courses, special events and projects.
Attending musical sessions as and when required.
Work alongside people of all ages and abilities in a non-judgemental and confident manner
Managing and updating displays & assisting with design of marketing materials
General administration and housekeeping such as establishing and maintaining a contacts database, ensuring the working areas are clean and tidy, filing etc
Helping to store instruments and equipment in a good condition and ensure instruments are handled and transported correctly

Desired Skills:
Willingness to develop a diverse range of skills such as the ability to contribute to discussions regarding the development of marketing strategies
Administrative skills needed to ensure comprehensive distribution of promotional materials
Customer service skills, communications skills and confidence when speaking with potential new clients
Although it would be preferable to be a musician/vocalist, this is not essential providing there is a demonstrable interest and enthusiasm for popular music and willingness to learn at least basic guitar and drum skills in quiet moments
Some artistic skills and interest in the more technical/electronic side of music/sound production and will be interested in learning the skills required to help maintain and use sound equipment.
A can-do attitude, someone who is good at seeing what needs doing and getting on with it and who will get involved in assisting other staff with signing in duties, hospitality and helping to ensure that all beneficiaries have an enjoyable experience.
Qualifications Required
4 GCSE’s at grade C or above including Maths, English and ICT will be desirable.
Training to be provided
Training Provider: Leeds City College
Framework title: Marketing
Level: Intermediate
Length of Programme: 12 - 15 Months
Mode of delivery: delivered entirely in the work place
Course content: A Level 2 Apprenticeship is delivered entirely in the workplace where you will gain knowledge, understanding and skills on the job. An Assessor from Leeds City College will visit you on a regular basis to complete your college work.
The Apprenticeship framework comprises of:
• Competence - Level 2 NVQ Diploma in Marketing
• Knowledge qualification - Level 2 BTEC Certificate in Principles of Marketing
• Employee Responsibilities and Rights (workbook)
• Personal Learning and thinking skills
• Functional Skills (project and tests)
Important Other Information
From the 1st October 2014 a National Minimum Wage (NMW) for apprentices has been introduced for young people aged 16-18 and those aged over 19 in the first year of their Apprenticeship. The new rate is £2.73 per hour. The new NMW applies to time working plus time spent training as this is also part of the Apprenticeship. Anyone not covered by the age category above will be entitled to the NMW appropriate to their age. The weekly wage for this post for a 16-18 year old would be £100.50.
