RE:generation Festival
RE:generation Festival on Saturday was phenomenal! A massive thank you to everyone who came down and those who volunteered!
The festival was a celebration of Burnholme Community Hub as it stands in its current form, prior to City of York Council's plans for 'Regenerating' the building.
This event received attention from York Press, before and after the event.
The event itself was jam packed full of great music, workshops and sport sessions! Featuring participants from various clubs and courses at Tang Hall SMART, plus community arts organisations Orb, and Chapel FM.
Jonny and Kurtis opened the festival, as part of The Collective; symbolic of the fact that Tang Hall SMART CIC is for the WHOLE community. These guys are trailblazers for young people who have disabilities - oh and they also happen to be excellent! There were many highlights to the show, not just the Rapathon (referred to in the article above) - too numerous to mention.
The RE:generation cafe was also a great triumph, serving afternoon tea. Closing at 5:30, the cafe was then transformed into our 'mocktail' bar, with our very own bar man and speciality mocktails.
The workshops were also a great success, with members of the local community volunteering to run some of them.
York City Knights, York City F.C. and York Hunters Handball all offered taster sessions in the sports facilities of the building, which were a success too!
Overall it was a fantastic day, and we're very glad that the building could be opened to the general public to be viewed before the regeneration of the site.
