  • Tang Hall SMART CIC, are delighted to have been awarded a share of over £65 million of National Lottery funding for good causes awarded to more than 2,250 community groups across England this quarter.

  • Our funding, spread over two years, is for the strand of our delivery that provides day-time clubs for the community – music, art and drama – and the aim is that people will have more to do, that is FREE, in the company of others and that this will reduce loneliness and isolation. We will be launching our full programme at the beginning of April (but for those who want a sneak preview, we will have leaflets available at our next Saturday Tea Dance on March 23rd, 1-3pm)

In the first quarterly funding announcement since revealing its new name in January, The National Lottery Community Fund (formerly the Big Lottery Fund) has revealed that more than 2,250 projects have received a share of the money, raised for good causes by players of The National Lottery.

A wide variety of activity is being funded across the country, from projects that aim to get more women and girls involved in skateboarding to storytelling groups for those with learning difficulties and social clubs to tackle feelings of isolation. All of the community projects being awarded money are led by people who help their communities thrive.

James Harcourt, England Grant-Making Director at The National Lottery Community Fund, said: “National Lottery money continues to change the lives of thousands of people across the UK. From community-led projects that reduce loneliness and isolation to those looking at ways of tackling bullying and violence amongst young people, this quarter’s funding has one thing in common – it’s all been awarded to groups with the ideas, knowledge and passion to make the changes they want to see in their local area. Thanks to National Lottery players, people all over the country are able to take action what matters most to them and their community.”

Our project: People Doing More

Our project is going to be funded for the next 2 years, and will mean we can offer 2 art classes a week, 2 drama classes (and the chance to be involved in a community play), community music groups, some individual recording sessions, one-to-one electronics coaching, and a weekly advice/information session – all FREE. The clubs will run on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, and are on top of our regular work, contracts, training programmes, SoundSMART, Inclusive Rock School, Flourish@Smart, SAFEBASE and Tea Dances. It represents a huge boost for the community – as there are now going to be loads of reasons for people to come out of their houses, and do more during the day – and we are so grateful to National Lottery players for making this project possible!
